Frequently asked questions
Everything organisers often ask us, from set length and sound to power and travel costs.
How long do you play?
Usually two sets of 45 to 50 minutes. A single 60-minute set, for a festival slot for example, is also possible. Almost anything can be arranged.
Do you bring your own sound system?
We bring our own instruments, amps and drums. The PA and a sound engineer ideally come from the venue. If there isn’t one, we bring our own PA for an extra fee, enough for a decent-sized pub. Lights and a small smoke machine are available too.
How much space and power do you need?
At least 4 x 3 metres, ideally 5 x 4 metres, on a level, solid surface. Two sockets by the stage is the minimum; three or four spread around it is better. We bring our own extension leads.
How long do you need to set up?
An hour for set-up and soundcheck, and half an hour to pack down. With our own PA, two hours to set up and an hour to pack down.
How much does a gig cost?
The price depends on the type of gig, the set length, the travel distance and whether we bring our own sound. Ask for a proposal, with no obligation.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel of up to an hour is included. Beyond that, we charge a mileage allowance.
Do you play outdoors?
Yes, on a covered stage with stage lighting. In thunderstorms, gales or temperatures above 30 °C, we decide together with the organiser whether it is safe to play.
Can you play acoustic, for a small pub?
Yes, with a smaller line-up or a stripped-down drum kit. Get in touch and we’ll see what works.
Do you play quieter songs too?
Yes. Between the stompers we also play slower Irish songs, and a quieter set during dinner can be arranged.
How far ahead should I book?
Ideally two to three months ahead. For St. Patrick’s Day (17 March) and summer festivals, four to six months.
What do you need on the day?
A loading spot close by and parking for two cars. It’s nice if there’s water and something to drink ready for us, and a meal at an agreed time: we’re often on the road for a large part of the day. If the gig is a long way off and we finish late, we’ll discuss an overnight stay beforehand; a simple place to sleep for four people is enough. We’re flexible: whatever doesn’t work, we’ll sort out together.
Do you play in Germany?
Yes, and further than just the border region. For gigs in Germany we put together a tailored proposal; for longer distances we also discuss an overnight stay.
How do I pay, and what if I need to cancel?
Payment by arrangement, preferably in cash on the night. You can cancel free of charge up to four weeks before the gig.
Do you have a rider or press kit?
Yes. The technical rider with input list and stage plot is on our rider page and can also be downloaded as a PDF.
Can't find your question?
Just add it to your enquiry. You'll hear from us within three working days, with a proposal and a price.
